The story behind the poster

The Monterey International Pop Festival took place over three days in the summer of 1967. It is regarded as the festival that kicked off to the Summer of Love. Monterey Pop featured early American appearances by the Who and Jimi Hendrix, as well as the first major public appearances by Janis Joplin and Otis Redding.
